name... Mountainfrost
gender... She-cat
age... 24 moons
group... RiverClan
rank... Medicine Cat
reference... A tall blue-gray she-cat with light green eyes
appearance... Mountainfrost is, as stated above, rather tall. Her slender legs make up most of her height, though her main body is also quite large. She’s not fat at all – in fact, she’s actually slender for her size. Named Mountainkit because of her fur color (and height), Mountainfrost’s short fur is close to the blue-gray color of the far-off mountains (Willowtail, Mountainfrost’s mother, had heard of the mountains from an elder). The she-cat’s tail is rather long, and she uses it very expressively. It is nearly always in motion, and she gives away her emotions in the movement of her sleek tail. Her eyes are as light green with the faintest hint of blue.
personality... Mountainfrost looks at healing as more of a quest to use the herbs correctly than to heal the cat in need. Those may seem similar, but to Mountainfrost, they’re not. She takes more of a science-y approach to her tasks, and focuses more on figuring out and fixing the problem than making sure the injured cat is okay. However, she is very diligent and always strives to do the best she can.
One of the traits she hates about herself is her need to be perfect. Mountainfrost is a perfectionist, and anything that’s the slightest bit off or wrong annoys her to no end. Over the moons, though, she’s learned to ignore some of these annoyances so she can concentrate on what needs to be done, instead of redoing one thing over and over until she gets it right.
Mountainfrost rarely makes a joke or cracks a smile: she is serious and quiet, with an instinct to stay hidden until she’s planned out what she’ll do. The she-cat hates taking risks and making decisions quickly. She prefers to hang back and go through her plans several times before actually carrying them out. And once she’s made a decision, she’ll stick to it: no amount of proof or evidence can make her believe that her way isn’t the best way.
She knows others might find her tendency to follow rules every single time a bit annoying, but she does it anyway. She tries to be proper and polite, always saying “please” and “thank you” and rarely cursing.
history... Mountainfrost knew that some other cats had interesting histories, but she thought her own was quite plain. There was no love at first sight, no half-Clan heritage, no untimely deaths… and this was fine with Mountasinfrost. She was not one to be desperate for drama; this simple life was quite good with her.
Mountainfrost’s parents were Willowtail and Redpatch, two RiverClan cats who became mates soon after Redpatch became a warrior (Willowtail had become a warrior several moons before).
It wasn’t long before Willowtail became pregnant. She gave birth to a litter of three kits, whom she named Briarkit, Silverkit, and Streamkit. There were no complications with the birth, and soon the three littermates became apprentices.
It was around this time that Willowtail became pregnant for the second time.
The three apprentices were quite excited about this and were looking forward to having younger siblings and more kits in the Clan. They were disappointed wher Willowtail gave birth to only one kit, who she quickly named Mountainkit.
As a kit, Mountainfrost really looked up to Briarpaw. She knew she wanted to be the medicine cat apprentice – the prospect of using herbs and healing cat excited her – but she was still eager to learn how to hunt and fight.
It was fortunate that Mountainfrost was appointed medicine cat apprentice. Ashbreeze, the medicine cat, was growing old and would retire soon, and Mountainfrost’s training was urgent. As soon as she had learned enough, Ashbreeze gave her her medicine cat name and retired. Mountainfrost was slightly nervous to be RiverClan’s only medicine cat, but she made sure not to show it.
It was not long until a kit named Sparrowkit was born to Flamesong and Honeylark. As Sparrowkit grew up, Mountainfrost watched her, and it occurred to her that Sparrowkit might just want to be a medicine cat – it seemed to Mountainfrost that she had the right personality to be the medicine cat apprentice, and so she was quite excited when Sparrowpaw (her new name) became Mountainfrost’s apprentice.
acquaintances...
Willowtail – mother
Redpatch – father
Briarwind – older brother
Silvercloud – older sister
Streamtail – older brother
Ashbreeze - mentor
Sparrowpaw - apprentice
notes... Name Origins: Willowtail named her single kit Mountainkit because of her blue-gray color and height. The suffix of her medicine cat name was given because of her silent, frosty manner. Oh, and I hope what I said about Sparrowpaw is okay…
